Hello everyone and welcome to the re-designed space. Thanks to DB for choosing us to do the work on his popular website, and bring his cause to a larger audience. The new site has a feature to create your OWN personal blog, and I wanted to start everyone off on the right foot, as the creator of the new site. There are a few things you can do, just very basic, that will greatly improve the look of the site, and that means more conversions. A conversion, means someone eventually purchases a service or product based on the information they received here.
The first thing is add a graphic! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and that is so true! If you REALLY want people to read the content you produce, then you need to captivate them first! A picture is an easy way to do that, but publishing pictures in your web articles does take a certain knack. People commonly make the mistake of uploading a very large image which doesn't fit inside the dimensions of the page! Basically images shouldn't be much larger than 1024 pixels on one side. That is pretty BIG! Sometimes you need to upload a larger images and that's OKAY.
The easy way to upload an image is to find the image add button in the toolbar inside the content editor above. See all those small icons above? The bottom row has an image add button. Click it and navigate the various options to find or upload your image. You can do it!!! Find the upload button first, and then you can drag and drop files from your computer into the site. Once uploaded, you have to select the file and hit the Insert button on the window. You can always play with the options again later, by right clicking, or ctrl clicking with Mac on the image in your article (while editing).
I was able to upload this image and resize it with the controls. I found and option to shift it to the left, and I even added some margins around it so that I could clearly display text, right here, just to the right of the image. My original image was a little larger than 1024, but I resized it to only 250 wide. That is a much more appropriate size for my readers.
<--- This is one of my favorite images of all time. This guys is modelling a flight mask prototype from the early era of aerospace engineering. I just love his expression, squashed inside that uncomfortable looking mask. Can you imagine strapping yourself into the rocket plane that mask was designed for? Can you say c r a z y ?
Anyway, you will also notice a couple more handy features in that toolbar up there, so start exploring. There is a spell checker, and link creator, plus much more. I hope you enjoyed this short introduction to the site, and as always you can contact me through my site http://www.megabotix.com <-- Wow! The editor just automatically formated my link! Isn't technology wonderful?
